Nov 02, 2013 05:24PM ● By Corinne Moore
Dempsey’s Irish Grill, located at 20801 Gulf Freeway at NASA Road One in the Blast Fitness Shopping Center, captures the merry-making character of the Irish and their celebrated pub culture with warm hospitality, friendly banter, good music, and hearty food and drink items.

The individual daily specials and weekday happy hour deals keep the Irish eyes smiling.

It’s a draft party on Monday nights! The drink specials (valid during the game only) are 50-cent (10-ounce) drafts during the first half and just a $1 during the second half, and $2 wells the first half and $4 wells the second half. The cold drinks go hand in hand with 50-cent wings all night or the all-you-can-eat boiled or fried shrimp for $13.99.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste, so head over to Dempsey’s on Tuesday nights for “Look at the Big Brain on Brad” trivia! This popular event is hosted by the very smart and engaging Mike Lupia and starts around 8:30 p.m. Prizes are a $30, $20, and $10 bar tab credit to be used on a future visit.

Hump day has never tasted so good. Dempsey’s cooks up all-you-can-eat barbeque ribs and potato salad for $11.99 from 6 to 9 p.m. Pair this tasty plate with $2.50 domestic bottles and $4 bombs all night and partake in karaoke featuring Mama Cass.

Darts and steak night? You bet! Starting at 8 p.m. sharp on Thursdays, Dempsey’s host a friendly dart competition and will match the pot. The blind scramble is $5 per player. First place takes all. Steak night serves up a $7 Ribeye (10-ounce) and fries. Drink specials include $2 margaritas and house wine and $5 Dempsey’s Texas Tea. Mondays through Fridays, Dempsey’s honors the happy hour tradition and takes $1 off regularly priced drinks from 3 to 6 p.m.

Get fired up for football and UFC fighting! Dempsey’s becomes the Houston Texans’ headquarters on game day. While watching Watt and the bulls on parade, enjoy $3 fireballs and $2 big ass beers. Order a free burger during halftime.  Also, earn a chance to win a NFL jersey of your choice or game tickets. On Saturday, November 16, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre will defend his belt against Johny Hendricks. The rumors around Yahoo Sports say St-Pierre may retire afterward, so don’t miss this fight!

Join Dempsey’s Fight Club, and get in with no cover to every fight shown, random drink specials, preferred seating, and fight mementos for members only, and there is no expiration date. Join individually for $40 (or $70 for a couple). Sounds like a great idea to gift yourself and a loved one for the holidays! Contact John for details 713-503-2994.

Since 2010, Dempsey’s has been supporting local music.  Live entertainment takes center stage on Friday and Saturday nights with rock solid acts like Pirate Radio, The Playboys, Four Barrel Ramblers, SNAFU, David Grace, and Seth Candan performing. Check www.DempseysPubTX.com for band updates.

It may be the increasing beer selection at Dempsey’s or it may be their philosophy that makes the venue so popular. “A good Irish American establishment makes everyone comfortable,” said owner John Delesandri. “There are no strangers at Dempsey’s, only friends you haven't met yet.”

Dempsey’s is considered a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Go and check it out!

Dempsey’s is ready for the holidays: Bring in a turkey starting November 10, and Dempsey’s will deep fry the bird for $20. Or they will provide the turkey at $2 per pound plus $20 to fry. Turkey frying must be reserved by calling 713-503-2994. This time of year is all about giving, and during the month of November, John and Lori Delesandri will buy you a shot or domestic draft beer in exchange for bringing a blanket to be provided to the homeless. “And for the first 24 days of December, we will do the same for unwrapped new toys,” said owner John Delesandri.
