May 01, 2013 09:21PM ● By SCENE MAGAZINE STAFF
Bay Area’s newest gallery, the Art Consortium of the Texas Gulf Coast, is having their Grand Opening Celebration, Saturday, May 11.  The 2nd Street Gallery, a member-supported gallery, is located at 1509½ 2nd Street in Seabrook. The celebration will also feature an outdoor “Locally Grown Arts Market” on the grounds of the gallery. The fun starts at noon, and ends at 9 p.m.

The celebration will highlight the works of local artists and Art Consortium members on the walls of the gallery. All works of art will be available for purchase. Information on classes and workshops for artists of all levels will be available at the grand opening for those wishing to get into the arts or further their skills.

“We’re excited to bring the arts to Seabrook and the Galveston Bay Area. Seabrook is the perfect location for an artistic endeavor, and we want to serve the community through the arts. 2nd Street Gallery will give local artists a beautiful place to show, and our classroom is a wonderful place to learn and explore ones’ artistic side. We want to make it an available asset to everyone,” says Rebecca Collins, president of the Art Consortium. The Gallery opens at noon for art market shopping. Hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served at 6 p.m. Admission is free, and donations to the Art Consortium are greatly appreciated.

2nd Street Gallery is a member art gallery for the Art Consortium of the Texas Gulf Coast.  The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. and Sunday noon to 4 p.m.   Not only do they produce classes and art festivals, but they will also be partnering with many organizations in the arts, including filmmaking and theatre arts with Farpoint Theatre and the Gulf Coast Film and Video Festival.

The Art Consortium of the Gulf Coast brings together artists, organizations and art enthusiasts to advocate, promote and provide opportunities to create and celebrate the arts for all Texas Gulf Coast residents and visitors. Their motto states that through leadership and innovation, they are committed to preserving our cultural and creative diversity by building community where the arts are a vital part of everyday life.  Share in the celebration with the 2nd Street Gallery on May 11.
