Cock & Bull British Pub is celebrating St. George's Day on Saturday, April 20 at 7 p.m. Located at 3659 NASA Parkway in Seabrook, this British style establishment will have guest speaker, comedian and magician "The Hilarious and Amazing" John Star.

The special dinner includes choice of starters: Cornish Pastie & Brit Sausage Roll Combo (served on a bed of greens) or Cauliflower Stilton Cheese Soup.

Main course choices include Roast Prime Rib (with English roast potato, Yorkshire Pudding, Mixed vegetables and gravy), Traditional Fish and Chips (with peas) or Rosemary Grilled Chicken Brest (with goat cheese risotto and spinach).

For dessert, choose from Crème Brûlée or Golden Raisin / Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce (choice of Chocolate Walnut or Caramel Pear flavors).

Who was St. George?

St. George is the patron saint of England. His emblem, a red cross on a white background is the flag of England and part of the British flag. St. George's emblem was adopted by Richard the Lion Heart and in the 12th Century. The kinds soldiers wore it on their tunics to avoid confusion in battle.

St. George was a brave Roman soldier who protested against the Roman's torture of Christians and died for his beliefs. The popularity of St. George in England stems from the time of the early crusades when it is said that the Normans saw him in a vision and were victorious.
