Earlier Update: The SCENE Magazine has teamed up with other local businesses to sponsor veteran sailor Stuart Lindow’s J24, for the 2013 Wednesday Night Sailboat Races. The SCENE Sailing Team finished April with a first and two second places finishes and is currently in second place overall after getting off to a rough start of the season with a DNF in race #1. Make sure to come out an cheer on the #99 boat. Its the one with the Carefree Boat Club logo on the spinnaker.
Featured Sponsor: Crazy Alan's Swamp Shack. The Swamp Shack has a laid back and casual atmosphere and the vibe is festive and fun. Anywhere is a good seat in the house, and there is even a rooftop deck with a killer view, especially for Kemah’s Friday Fireworks during June and July. Come sit at the bar with friends and order a mythical “Swamp Juice” drink. Or if your friends are not available, come out to the Swamp Shack anyway, have a seat by the alligator, and make some new friends during an extended happy hour. The staff offers wonderful customer service and owners Paul Latour and Alan Franks want to make sure your experience is an enjoyable one. So does the Cayman alligator up front. Make sure you stop by and tell him hello. The menu features some of the best cajun seafood, steaks, burgers and chicken in the Kemah area including crawfish, shrimp, gumbo, boiled crabs, oysters, alligator and more. Head on over and check the Swamp Shack out!

Then at the end of the day, the staff will be there to meet you upon your return. And as a member of Carefree Boat Club, you have reciprocal access to every Carefree fleet of boats, at any of their nationwide locations. All Carefree members are trained how to operate the boats safely and you’ll receive information on the best locations for boat accessible dining, fishing, skiing, swimming and shopping.
