Aug 31, 2012 07:07PM ● By John Ennis

A Showcase of the Creative & Independent Spirit of Dining, Music, Art & Beer in the Waterfront Capital of Texas

Thursday, October 18 • 5 to 9 p.m. at Clear Lake Park’s Landolt Pavilion (Get Tickets!)

On Thursday, October 18, 2012 (5 to 9 p.m.), The SCENE Magazine will transform Clear Lake Park’s Landolt Pavilion into a celebration of the best of independently-owned dining, original music, local art, and Texas craft beer. Plus, there will be more than a few surprises mixed in to add to the entertainment experience as expected from a SCENE-hosted event.

This event marks the 10th anniversary of the locally and independently-owned SCENE Magazine, which supports and promotes local dining, events, non-profits, nightlife, live music and spirits in Houston’s most dynamic community, often referred to as the Jewel of Houston, Waterfront Capital of Texas and the home of Manned Space Flight and Mission Control.

This SCENEfest will be the first of what will become an annual event celebrating the creative excellence and independent spirit that makes this waterfront community a great entertainment destination to visit for those not luckily enough to live and work here. This event also kicks off the newest SCENE division: SCENE Events! From pub crawls and bikini contests to fundraisers benefitting local musicians in need, The SCENE has thrown, hosted and sponsored hundreds of events of all sizes. But this will be the first SCENEfest, and we won’t wait another ten years to put on SCENEfest II.

Food samples from some of the area’s best and most creative restaurants such as Signature Bistro and Crazy Alan's Swamp Shack will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Some of Texas' finest crafts will be available for purchase in the Texas Craft Beer Garden. Four up-and-coming local bands on the verge of stardom will perform on the main Texas Indie Stage situated on the grass along NASA Road 1.

(Guests are invited to sit in the grass or bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the music.) Between acts on the Texas Indie Stage, talented local musicians will perform acoustic sets on the pavilion’s Songwriter Showcase Stage. Additional entertainment includes the popular Paparazzi Houston Photo Booth and much, much more. Sponsorships and booth spaces are still available for any size budget.

This event is open to the public and is a celebration of what SCENE readers love: Food, local live music, art, adult beverages and being “seen out on The SCENE.” This will be THE “After Work” event of the season!
