Houston Yacht Club to Host Elissa Regatta: March 31 - April 1 on Galveston Bay

Mark your calendars for a fun weekend of racing, food and fun during the Elissa Regatta March 31 through April 1 at the Houston Yacht Club, which is located in Shoreacres, Texas.

The regatta is open to all sailors.  Online registration is available on the HYC web site at www.houstonyachtclub.com on the Race and Regatta page. The schedule of events is as follows:

Friday, March 30: Silent Auction bidding and 50/50 Raffle starts at 5 p.m. at HYC. Regatta registration runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at HYC. Competitor’s briefing begins at 7 p.m.

Saturday, March 31:  Warning Signal for the first race is at 10:30 a.m. Silent Auction bidding and 50/50 raffle continues at 3 p.m.  Dinner is served at 6 p.m. Regatta entries receive two dinner tickets (one ticket for singlehanded boats) and a t-shirt.  Hats, extra t-shirts and dinner tickets will be available for purchase.  Dinner tickets for non-competitors cost $15 per dinner ticket.

Sunday, April 1: Warning signal for the first race is at 10:30 a.m. with two races scheduled for the day. Awards presentation tentatively set for 4:30 p.m. at HYC. For 25 years, the Houston Yacht Club has supported the ship and her programs at Galveston Historical Foundation's Texas Seaport Museum through the annual Elissa Regatta.  Elissa is preserved, maintained and crewed by a group of volunteers.  The funds raised from the Elissa Regatta provide a living connection with her maritime past.
